Moroney: The Late Mr George Moroney
It
came as a shock to the community to learn on Wednesday morning that Mr. George
Moroney had died at his home, Petersham. Sydney. during the previous night. The
deceased gentleman was a native of this district, being born at Bolong, where
his family resided and carried on dairying for many years. He was the youngest
son of the late Mr. Michael and Sarah Moroney, and had been employed at
Thomson's stables in Nowra for some years, afterwards taking over the business
for some time with his brother Harry, but about 20 years ago he removed to
Sydney. Lately he became a victim to the prevailing flu, and pneumonia
supervening he passed away as stated during Tuesday night. The mortal remains
were brought to Nowra on Thursday, and were laid to rest in the R.C. portion of
the general cemetery, the Rev. Father Carr performing the last sad rites. The
deceased had many friends when resident in this district, throughout which he
was held in high esteem, as were all the members of the Moroney family.
